In 1980, CARH hosted it’s 1st Annual Holiday Luncheon
which would mark the beginning of a new CARH tradition.
The event brought Christmas joy to a total of 193 special
individuals. Since then, CARH’s Holiday events have
become very popular among our special needs community
and throughout the years the demand for all of our services
has grown astronomically.

In fact, twenty nine years later,
our list of registered CARH clients continues to grow. In
December 2009, CARH hosted five Holiday events at Hilton
Hotels in Oakland, Concord, Newark/Fremont, and
Sacramento accommodating a total of 1,856 guests.
These lavish events provide those we serve with fine
dining, live entertainment, caroling, dancing, raffle, and a
visit from Mr. and Mrs. Clause with gifts in hand. It gives
everyone at CARH great pleasure to be able to spread
Holiday cheer throughout nine Counties. Since 1980, our
Holiday events have come a long way indeed. As we
embark on a new year, we look forward to continuing the
tradition of bringing joy to those we serve, creating more
wonderful memories in 2010.

Thrift Town Founders Honored

The founders of Thrift Town stores, Bud Norquist and Steve Moore were honored at a surprise luncheon on December 7, 2009. The special occasion was an opportunity for a number of individuals who had worked closely with Bud and Steve to celebrate their many successes and accomplishments throughout their 37 years in the thrift store business. The small gathering gave everyone present a chance to share and reflect on Bud and Steve’s years of dedication to making a difference. CARH and Thrift Town were both founded in 1972 and our long history together speaks to our shared respect and commitment to improving the lives of our special needs community. CARH founder, Leo Guidotti and Bud Norquist established our unique partnership so many years ago with a handshake. Our relationship with ThriftTown stands as strong today as it did in 1972. And we are grateful to Bud and Steve for all that they have done for CARH. See News Letter.
